Committees of the Oneida County Volunteer Firemen’s Association

ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE

Consists of the Executive Board of Directors of this Association.

Responsible for:

• Filling vacancies among elective officers within 30 days.

• Handling emergencies between regular meetings.

• Managing financial signatories for Association funds.

• Reviewing and receiving all written propositions for constitutional and by-law changes.

AUDITING & BUDGET COMMITTEE

• Determines annual fiscal requirements by surveying committees and general membership.

• Works with the Treasurer and Ways & Means Committee to maintain cash flow.

• Conducts an annual audit of the Treasurer’s records, reporting findings in May.

BY-LAWS COMMITTEE

• Maintains a current set of by-laws and the Association's constitution.

• Keeps records and historical documentation of by-law changes.

CENTRAL NEW YORK FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION (CNYFA) COMMITTEE

• Reports on activities, meetings, and developments concerning CNYFA.

CONVENTION SITE COMMITTEE

• Reviews and recommends annual convention sites.

• Ensures host members coordinate programs, parades, tournaments, and other key events.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COMMITTEE

• Keeps members updated on EMS regulations and changes.

EQUIPMENT JUDGING COMMITTEE

• Establishes rules for fire apparatus judging in annual parades.

• Instructs judges and supports host committee in all judging-related activities.

FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK (FASNY) COMMITTEE

• Reports on FASNY activities, meetings, and information.

• Reports on the County Fire Advisory Board activities and meetings.

• Reports on county and state Fire Chief Association activities.

FIRE EXPO COMMITTEE

• Coordinates annual fire prevention programs for elementary students in Oneida County and surrounding areas.

• Organizes fire prevention programs for schools and the public.

• Promotes fire safety throughout Oneida County.

GRANT COMMITTEE

• Secures funding for fire expo, fire prevention, and other organizational programs.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

• Reports on special events for VIPs within the county and state fire associations.

INSURANCE COMMITTEE

• Conducts an annual review of the Association’s insurance policy.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE

• Keeps members informed on vital fire service legislation in New York State.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

• Maintains records of paid and unpaid membership dues.

MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

• Maintains an honor roll of deceased members.

• Coordinates the annual memorial service.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

• Presents officer nominations at the March meeting each year.

PARADE COMMITTEE

• Instructs parade judges and ensures proper parade procedures.

• Works with local committees to organize parade line-ups.

PAST PRESIDENT’S DINNER COMMITTEE

• Organizes the annual Past Presidents’ Dinner in conjunction with the annual meeting.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

• Manages the Association’s official communications, media outreach, and public messaging.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

• Ensures timely availability of scholarship applications and award distribution.

• Organizes sporting events such as golf tournaments and horseshoe tournaments.

STEERING COMMITTEE

• Screens candidates for officer positions in CNYFA and FASNY.

• Makes recommendations to the Association.

TWO PERCENT COMMITTEE

• Monitors and reports on regulations affecting two percent funds.

WAYS & MEANS COMMITTEE

• Develops fundraising initiatives to support Association programs.
